The question type button displays the question type symbol of the currently displayed question, in this example below an F. In the image below the type of question currently displayed is an internal, machine question called a Function question type.

When the button is clicked, a list of all the question types and their corresponding symbols will appear. From this list the designer can quickly change the question type by clicking on one of the selections. The new question type will display its appropriate, blank fields. Information in the previous question type's fields that do not correspond to the new type will be lost
